Our purpose is to unite ocean science students from all Faculty of Science departments: to foster a community where we can discuss developments in oceanography, provide peer-led support, and run ocean-related events. We also work with interested students to get them involved in ocean research or development opportunities.

We advocate for academic matters, organize social events, and ensure that students are well-informed about the happenings of their program.

Dalhousie Reading Society (DRS)

The Dal Reads society entails all members to read the same book for each month and attend the end-of-month meeting to discuss the book. Each monthly book centers around a different theme or genre. For instance, October’s theme is Thriller and Horror for Halloween. All the books are new releases, so no one must worry about having previously read them.

The mission of the Dalhousie Science Society is to support the following: Community, Academia and Advocacy. Through planning social events and uniting the various departments of the faculty, we aim to create a sense of community for students in the science faculty. In supporting opportunities for professional development for students, such as workshops, panels, and providing grant opportunities, we support academia.

Dalhousie Association of Graduate Students in Psychology (DAGSiP)

Though the role of the society for some time has been organizing and assigning students to department committees and advocating to the faculty, we are hoping to expand the scope of DAGSiP. Specifically, our first goal is to promote more social connection between graduate students in the Psychology and Neuroscience department.

Black and Gold Dance Team

Black and Gold Dance Team

The Black and Gold Dance Team is a competitive dance team at Dalhousie University, who competes amongst other University teams around the Maritimes. Each September, auditions are held for full-time Dal students after which a group of experienced dancers are chosen to be a part of the team. We provide quality dance instruction, in the styles of Contemporary, Jazz, Hip-hop, Tap, Lyrical, and Acro, that is accessible and inexpensive for all. The Black and Gold Dance Team provides dancers with the opportunity to continue dancing, performing, and competing through University, in a fun and supportive environment.

Founded in 2016, the Dalhousie Sports Business Society is a non-profit DCS umbrella society that combines students' passion for athletic events and corporate affairs. Despite primarily operating out of out of Dalhousie's business school, DSBS provides students across all degrees and levels of study with equal opportunities to get involved.

The Dalhousie Womens Lacrosse team is an inclusive environment that practices three to four times a week. The team is a great way to meet people, regardless of whether you've played lacrosse!
We are a proud team that strives to uphold our MWFULL Championship Title and we hope to see you at the first tryouts in early September!

Dalhousie Women's Rugby Football Club (DWRFC)

The Dalhousie Women's Rugby Football Club is a competitive team within the University Women's Club League that provides high-quality practice and competition with other teams within Nova Scotia. Given the growing interest in the club over recent years, we have plans to expand to two teams in 2023; one competing in the Rugby NS senior women's fall league as we have in years past, and one with a season based on exhibition games against AUS and ACAA teams. While we are still working through preparations, and this will be a new approach for us, these are our goals for the upcoming year.

Our goal at Dalhousie Women in Sport is to provide a safe-space and supportive environment for female and non-binary students with a passion for sport to grow as individuals and share experiences across campus and in the community. We provide members with events and opportunities such as recreational activities, networking, game nights, mentorship, recreational tournaments, viewing parties and industry guest speakers.

Dalhousie Tennis Club

The Dalhousie Tennis Club is a student-run society that is open to all students interested in playing on our competitive team or improving their skills through recreational tennis events that our club hosts in the fall. Our competitive team competes against teams from across Atlantic Canada in the Atlantic University Tennis League(AUTL), with the winner qualifying for a spot at the University Tennis Nationals. We host recreational tennis events open to all community members looking to improve their skills, or for those looking to try tennis out for the first time.

The competitive dinghy sailing team practices and races in 420s, a 2-person dinghy. Practices take place out of the Waegwoltic Club in Halifax’s Northwest Arm. The Dalhousie Sailing Team is a member of the Canadian Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (CICSA) and competes in regattas across Canada.
