Sex Education resource centre | dsuserc
What we do:
The Sex Education Resource Centre (SERC) is a confidential, non-judgmental, sex positive, and feminist information and navigation drop-in centre, providing peer-support on issues related to sex and sexuality.
The SERC will operate on a three-pillar foundation – Support, Education, Access.
Support
Access to a welcoming and safe drop-in center, offering peer support and resources for sexual health and wellbeing.
Operation of phone/text line for Dalhousie students to access support for sexual violence or concerns/questions regarding sexual wellbeing.
Students can make scheduled appointments with the manager by emailing serc@dal.ca and can be conducted by Microsoft Teams, phone, or in-person.
Education
Regular programming of seminars and workshops on sexual health and wellbeing, gender-based issues, healthy relationships, and sex and body positivity, as well as being available by request for population specific presentations.
Collaboration with the DSU Executives to build awareness around sexual health and wellbeing in the Dalhousie community.
Provision of DSU staff sexual harassment training as part of our commitment to ensure a safe, inclusive, and respectful work and learning environment.
Access
Provide students with access to safer sex supplies, pregnancy tests, and menstrual products, based on need.
Oversees the SERC bursary program to help Dalhousie students in gaining access to products and services.
Ongoing collaboration with Dalhousie programs and Student Union societies, to ensure continuation and inclusiveness of programs and services.
