We are an official member group operating as an extension of EngiQueers Canada, a national non-profit that represents the 2SLGTBQIA+ community in engineering & celebrates, promotes, and advocates for equity, diversity, and belonging in engineering. Our three pillars are 1. professional development (e.g., sending delegates to the annual national EngiQueers Canada conference), 2. education & advocacy (e.g., delivering EDIA training), and 3. social connection (e.g., hosting events on campus such as drag shows, community walks, art nights, and more). Dal EQ has a General Member Community that students and professionals are invited to join.
Force Seven Sailing (F7S)
Force Seven Sailing is a Dalhousie student design team created in collaboration with the Memorial University of Newfoundland. We will be competing in the SuMoth competition, which involves designing, building, testing and racing a foiling Moth class sailboat. SuMoth is a rapidly growing international competition with focuses on sustainability and inclusion. We are looking for students who are interested in engineering, aeronautics and sailing to join our team.
Dalhousie Student Society of Economic Geologists
Atlantic Student Research Journal Dalhousie Chapter (DAL ASRJ)
The Dalhousie chapter of the Atlantic Student Research Journal (ASRJ) is a society made to inspire Dalhousie students to become the voice of innovation and research. We encourage the literary aspect of science and apply it by creating peer-reviewed articles from research topics that students are passionate about. This is a step to the research world, we have events from scientific writing training to general social gatherings.
Dalhousie Environmental Engineering Scociety
Dalhousie Formula Society of Automotive Engineers (Dalhousie FSAE)
Dalhousie Formula SAE designs, builds, and races a small formula-style race
car, with a focus on developing students engineering skills and technologies. For the 2022-2023 season the team transitioned to an electric drivetrain. This allows student members to promote sustainable transportation and advance the future of mobility while actively gaining the necessary skills to easily integrate into the transitioning automotive industry upon graduation.

Dalhousie Aquaculture Student Society
Dalhousie Aquaculture Student Society (DASS) is a student-led undergraduate society open to everyone with an interest in the cultivation and rearing of aquatic organisms for scientific and industrial purposes. DASS welcomes people interested in the many facets of aquaculture including fish, shellfish, microorganisms, engineering, and more. Our goal is to give students knowledge, connections, and advice to be able to work and study in aquaculture.
Civil Engineer Society
Hello all aspiring or continuing Civil Engineering Undergraduate Students!
This society represents all students in Civil Engineering at Dalhousie University. Along with planning events such as professor networking events and Galas, we provide the opportunity to purchase custom merchandise. Our main goal this year is to relay any feedback/concerns from our student peers to our professors and Civil Engineering Department through an anonymous platform. On top of that, we want to be able to plan events that bring our student body together, to have a little fun and get to know each other!
Mechanical Engineering Society (MES)
The Mechanical Engineering Society provides support to students within the Mechanical Engineering Department with the main purpose of bolstering the student experience. The society is a great way for student leaders to form a team and provide events to the student body. The society also champions and supports any academic concerns within the mechanical engineering discipline.
Dalhousie Engineering Global Brigades Chapter
Dalhousie Chemical Engineering Society
The Dalhousie Chemical Engineering Society provides advice, plans events and creates a space for chemical engineering students to connect and bond over their mutual course content. Events are held through the term to provide a fun out of classroom environment for students to bond. Events are also held with professors to ensure students are able to maintain a positive connection with faculty and be able to have fun outside of the classroom!
Dalhousie Electrical Engineering Society (DEES)
The Dalhousie Electrical Engineering Society is the discipline society that represents students in electrical and computer engineering at Dalhousie once students enter the upper division. We advocate for academic matters, organize social events, and ensure that students are well-informed about the happenings of their program.
Dalhousie Microtransat Autonomous Sailboat Team (DalMAST)
Dalhousie Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Team (DAT)
Autonomous underwater vehicles present a unique challenge which requires careful planning and extensive testing to successfully and reliably complete tasks underwater without human interference. This objective presents designers and engineers with a unique framework to operate in, and to design systems which are used to accomplish a common goal. Competitions are held which allow University students, and other non-professional AUV designers, to participate in a competitive environment which encourages planning, innovation, and success. The mission of the Dalhousie Autonomous Underwater Vehicle team is to research, design, build, test, and compete at various events while allowing students to learn in a technical and collaborative environment.
Dalhousie Biomedical Engineering Society (DBES)
We aim to foster a sense of community for students in the Biomedical Engineering program.
Our society mainly organizes social events for our students and facilitates communication between between students and the faculty. This is all in an effort to foster a sense of community in our program. This is important because our students come from very diverse scientific backgrounds and work on a diverse set of research problems. But, we are also physically separated in buildings across the 3 Halifax campuses.
Dalhousie Sextant Publishing Society
Dalhousie Diploma of Engineering Society (DES)
The Dalhousie Diploma of Engineering Society (DES) represents all first and second-year engineering students. We address the academic concerns of our members with faculty, throw events and professional development opportunities, and provide the opportunity for our members to attend engineering conferences.
If you have any questions or want to get involved, we'd love to hear from you!
