▼ WHAT RELEVANT EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS DO YOU HAVE FOR THIS POSITION?
I have been deeply involved in student leadership and society management at Dalhousie, giving me the experience and insight needed to be an effective VP Internal. I currently serve as a Member at Large for the Computer Science Society and previously held the role of VP External, where I worked on outreach, partnerships, and society engagement. Beyond that, I run and am an executive for multiple multicultural and academic societies, which has given me first-hand experience with the challenges societies face—funding limitations, event coordination, and communication gaps.
As a Student Ambassador for the Faculty of Computer Science, I have worked on enhancing student engagement, streamlining communication, and creating inclusive initiatives. My extensive background in event planning, policy discussions, and advocacy—including leading and organizing large-scale conferences, debating complex policy issues—has equipped me with the skills to improve transparency, strengthen inter-society collaboration, and ensure fair funding distribution.
I understand what societies need to thrive, and I am committed to making DSU’s support more accessible, inclusive, and effective for every student group on campus!
▼ WHY DO YOU BELIEVE YOU ARE A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR YOUR DESIRED POSITION?
m running for VP Internal because I genuinely believe in the power of student societies to shape an inclusive, engaging, and vibrant university experience. Societies are more than just clubs—they are communities that bring people together, create opportunities, and amplify diverse voices.
However, I have seen firsthand the challenges societies face—funding struggles, communication gaps and I am determined to bring real change to ensure every society, no matter its size, has the resources to thrive.
I am someone who doesn’t just identify problems—I find solutions and take action. Whether it’s improving funding, creating better communication channels, or building stronger collaborations between societies, I am ready to put in the effort to make DSU more accessible, transparent, and supportive.
What drives me is my willingness to listen, adapt, and advocate for every student and society on campus. This position isn’t just about holding a title—it’s about making an impact. If elected, I will work tirelessly to ensure that every society’s voice is heard, every student feels connected, and every initiative gets the support it deserves. Let’s build a campus where societies don’t just exist—they thrive.
▼ LIST THE TOP 3 THINGS YOU WOULD LIKE TO ACCOMPLISH IN OFFICE?
Strengthen Communication & Collaboration Between Societies
Create a centralized platform (Discord/website) for societies to share updates, collaborate, and access DSU resources.
Revise Society Funding to Be More Fair & Accessible
Advocate for a tiered funding model that ensures multicultural and smaller societies receive fair financial support alongside the larger ones.
Make DSU More Engaging & Inclusive for All Students
Organize inter-society events to bridge cultural, academic, and social groups, fostering stronger community ties.
Introduce a "Society Mentorship Program" where experienced societies guide newer ones on event planning, funding, and growth.
▼ DESCRIBE AND DISCUSS ONE STUDENT ISSUE THAT MATTERS TO YOU.
One major issue that matters to me is students missing out on events simply because they hear about them too late or not at all. Dalhousie has an incredibly active student community, with societies constantly organizing cultural events, networking opportunities, workshops, and social gatherings—yet, many students feel disconnected and unaware of what’s happening.
I’ve personally heard from students who wanted to attend events but found out last minute or after they were already over. This disconnect is often due to inconsistent promotion, scattered communication channels, and lack of a centralized event hub.
▼ WHAT INSPIRES YOU, AND WHY?
I am passionate about bringing people together, fostering engagement, and creating opportunities for students to connect and thrive. University isn’t just about academics—it’s about the experiences we create, the friendships we build, and the communities we become a part of.
As someone who has led multiple societies, organized large-scale events, and worked closely with diverse student groups, I’ve seen how societies can shape a student's university experience. But I’ve also seen barriers—lack of awareness, funding challenges, and communication gaps—that prevent students from fully engaging. This is why I’m dedicated to making it easier for students to discover, join, and participate in the activities they love.
▼ LIST A FUN FACT ABOUT YOURSELF.
I’m like a human search engine, but my results come with sarcasm. Need suggestions? tips? The best spot for late-night food? I got you… but expect some wit along the way.
