2024 NS Provincial Election:
Compiled voting information for students
Many post-secondary students living in Nova Scotia may have two residences, including one when they’re at school and one when they’re not at school. For the purpose of Nova Scotia provincial elections, students can choose one or the other as a principal residence when it comes to casting their vote.
Voting information

If you are a Canadian citizen who is 18 years or older on election day and have lived in Nova Scotia for the six months or more before the day an election is called, then you have the right to vote. It’s as simple as that.
-
Registration is a simple process. If you find that you're not already registered, you can download an application from this site or ask your returning office for an application and one will be sent to you. You can submit your completed form with ID via email, mail, or in person at your returning office during an election.
Or, you can register when you go to vote. While you don't need ID to vote, you will be asked for identification with your name and civic address (see acceptable identification) when you register. If you don't have identification, you may swear an oath and declare your name and address.

Write In Ballots
Eligible voters in Nova Scotia can apply to vote remotely using a write-in ballot. Voters can apply for a write-in ballot at their returning office by mail, or have a trusted friend or family member act as the voters agent to help them apply, or have a ballot team visit them at home.
Once a vote has applied to vote by write-in ballot, that is the method of voting they must use.
E-Ballot
All in-person early voting locations use a secure electronic tablet for voting. Learn more about the step by step process for E-Ballot voting at "E-Ballot for Early Voters”
